Brightline Trains Run Tests of Route South of Fort Lauderdale

After striking several pedestrians, leaving a handful harmed and several dead, the Brightline train is running tests of a route south of Fort Lauderdale.

The tests, which began this month, come as the company fights criticism for its abysmal safety record. In 2018 alone Brightline trains have struck at least four people, killing one.

In response to critics who have been very vocal about the company’s safety record, Brightline has signaled that it is taking safety seriously, running test trains at slower than full speed and putting up multi-language warning signs at railroad crossings.
