Several news outlets are reporting that a group of Carnival Cruise Line passengers was involved in a serious vehicle crash in Belize this week, resulting in two deaths and others suffering serious injuries.

MiamiHerald.com reports that the victims had been traveling on the Carnival Vista cruise ship when they took a shore excursion. The bus carrying the passengers was also carrying passengers from a different cruise line, a Carnival statement says.

The bus carrying the passengers collided head-on with a Chevrolet SUV after the truck crossed into the bus’ lane while attempting to overtake another vehicle the MiamiHerald.com report says.

The victims killed in the crash were 53-year-old Jacqueline Abad and 51-year-old Sara Armijo. Other passengers in the collision sustained significant injuries including broken bones and pelvic fractures.

The Carnival statement says that the victims will be treated in the U.S. for their injuries.
