INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FL - Authorities said a driver was killed when her car was involved in a fiery crash on Interstate 95 in Indian River County, according to TC Palm.

The incident happened Sunday evening on I-95 south near State Road 60 at about 5 p.m.

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol said a 56-year-old woman was driving a Mazda 3 in the center lane of the interstate when she struck a Ford Flex SUV.  The Mazda went off the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

The Mazda driver, a Lake Park resident, was pronounced dead after being taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Three people inside the SUV, ages 70, 71 and 72, were not injured.

The southbound lanes of I-95 were shut down in the area while the wreckage was being cleared and the crash investigated.

The FHP is trying to determine the cause of the fatal wreck.
