Woman and Her Grandson Hospitalized Following Brightline Train Collision

A South Florida woman and her grandson were in a vehicle that was struck by a Brightline train Monday.

Local10.com reports that at about 10:20 am the woman and her one-year-old grandson were traveling in a vehicle when it collided with a Brightline train in the vicinity of Northeast Third Street and North Flagler Avenue. Surveillance video appeared to show the woman turning onto the train tracks instead of the road, resulting in the crash.

Though none of the 53 passengers aboard the train was harmed, authorities transported the woman and the toddler to Broward Health North following the collision.

Authorities believe that the victims’ injuries are not life-threatening.
