BOCA CHITA KEY, FL - A teenager passed away Monday of injuries suffered in a boating accident near Boca Chita Key Sunday night, NBC Miami reports.

The 17-year-old victim was a high school senior who was among a group of students from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy and Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart who were aboard the boat.
The vessel with 14 passengers on board struck a channel marker and capsized at about 6:45 p.m. in the waters off Cutler Bay. Four people were hospitalized in Miami with critical injuries while seven others sustained minor injuries.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to the scene along with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Police marine patrol units.
