Premises liability, when we say that we mean slip and fall accidents and other types of injuries. We also mean inadequate security cases. When we are talking about slip and falls, you know, people think that a lot of times they are not very major injuries. Cases we take a lot of times involve multiple surgeries and in fact I have handled slip and fall cases, which involved brain damage and death. In Florida, we have a statute. It requires the landowner, the premises owner, the building owner, shopping center owner, storeowner to keep their store in a certain way and clean in a certain way. The plaintiff, the person bringing the claim, has a burden to prove that they in fact, they the store owner, premises owner did not keep it as clean as they should have, but we find that when there is a case of good liability that is not difficult to overcome, and those are the types of slip and fall cases that we handle. Other injuries that we have seen in slip and falls for example are knee injuries. Those seem to be pretty common. For example, we had a case several years ago, it is on our website Sullivan versus Sunrise Musical Theater, where our client actually fell onto her knees, which is actually fairly common. Now she was 34 years old at that time and actually required surgery and then a knee replacement. So they can be fairly serious accidents. Another accident or injury rather that we have seen and it is actually not that uncommon is where the person falls and twists. We have seen a spiral fracture of the femur resulting in very major surgery and knee replacement. These are the kind of accidents that we see in slip and falls.
